DW20 underwater thruster, at least 20 kgf static thrust and 350 m operating depth. 48 V, 910 W, 1630 g.
The DW20 is a high-thrust underwater thruster designed for medium-class ROVs and AUVs. At a rated 48 V and 910 W of continuous power it produces at least 20 kgf of static thrust and works down to 350 meters. It is the first model in the DW series with a Ø152 mm housing and a Ø126 mm propeller. Its streamlined nozzle reduces drag under water and lowers the load on the power system.
Typical applications include medium-class ROVs and AUVs, underwater inspection and maintenance vehicles, survey platforms, unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and electric surfboards.
A single DW20 delivers at least 20 kgf of static thrust. For example, if two thrusters on an ROV face straight forward, forward static thrust is at least 40 kgf. In vectored layouts with four horizontal thrusters, the forward share depends on the thruster angles. Actual speed depends on hull drag and tether load.
The housing measures Ø152 x 182 mm and weighs 1630 g, about 960 g in water. The cable is 1.5 m, Ø9 mm TPU-jacketed 3 x 13 AWG. The motor rotor has 20 poles. If you need more power, consider the DW25 with the same housing diameter, and for a lighter thruster, the DW15.
Which ESC does it work with?
The DW20 runs with an external driver. The pairing CubeMars recommends is the TW-80A-12S underwater ESC. The DW20 is not on the compatibility list of the TW-40A-12S, which pairs with the DW15 and smaller models.
How do I choose between the DW20 and DW25?
Both use the same housing diameter, the same propeller diameter and the same ESC. The DW25 gives 5 kgf more thrust at higher power. For medium-class vehicles without heavy payloads, the DW20 is usually enough.
Can it be used in seawater?
Yes. The housing resists corrosion and the sealing design keeps seawater out of the motor chamber. The manufacturer recommends rinsing with clean water after each use.
Are mounting parts included?
Yes. The box contains two mounting bases, a connecting rod and screws in three sizes. CubeMars also publishes a 3D drawing of a shared mounting bracket for the DW20 and DW25.
Box size Ø175 x 295 mm.
The ESC pairing CubeMars recommends for the DW20 is the TW-80A-12S underwater ESC set. Our team can support you with battery, control and vehicle integration.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
