AKE80-8 KV30 quasi-direct drive actuator, 12 Nm rated and 30 Nm peak torque. 195 rpm no-load speed, 570 g.
The AKE80-8 is a quasi-direct drive robotic actuator with a compact, lightweight body. The motor and gearbox are built as one unit.
Typical applications include exoskeleton joints, rehabilitation devices, collaborative robot arms and mechanisms that work in contact with people.
The AKE80-8 is a quasi-direct drive actuator delivering 12 Nm continuous and 30 Nm peak torque. For example, a 3.5 kg load at the end of a 30 cm arm needs about 10.3 Nm of static torque (3.5 × 9.81 × 0.30). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
In quasi-direct drive the reduction is kept low (8:1). The joint stays compliant to external forces, and force feedback can be read from motor current. At 32 mm tall and 570 g it suits exoskeleton elbows and knees and rehabilitation devices in contact with people.
Is the driver included?
No. The AKE series has no integrated driver board, and the actuator runs with an external FOC driver. Our technical team can help you choose a driver.
How much gearbox backlash is there?
According to the manufacturer, 9 arcminutes, or about 0.15 degrees.
How is position read?
The Ø6 × 2.5 mm sensor magnet in the box is fitted to the end of the shaft, and position is read from it by the magnetic encoder on the driver side.
What is its torque constant?
On the motor side Kt is about 0.32 Nm/A. With the 8:1 reduction, the 12 Nm rated output torque is reached at about 4.8 A.
This model has no integrated driver board, so the actuator needs an external FOC driver. Our technical team can help you choose a driver.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
