AKE60-8 KV80 quasi-direct drive actuator, 5 Nm rated and 12.5 Nm peak torque. 240 rpm no-load speed, 260 g.
The AKE60-8 is a quasi-direct drive robotic actuator developed for exoskeleton applications. The planetary gear and motor are joined in one housing.
Typical applications include exoskeleton joints, rehabilitation devices, collaborative robot arms and mechanisms that work in contact with people.
The AKE60-8 is a quasi-direct drive actuator delivering 5 Nm continuous and 12.5 Nm peak torque from a 260 g body. For example, a 1.8 kg load at the end of a 25 cm arm needs about 4.4 Nm of static torque (1.8 × 9.81 × 0.25). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
In quasi-direct drive the reduction is kept low (8:1). The joint stays compliant to external forces, and force feedback can be read from motor current. At 25 mm tall and with a 24 V operating voltage it suits exoskeleton wrists and elbows and wearable rehabilitation devices.
Is the driver included?
No. The AKE series has no integrated driver board, and the actuator runs with an external FOC driver. Our technical team can help you choose a driver.
What voltage does it run on?
Its rated voltage is 24 V. At that voltage its no-load speed is 240 rpm.
How much gearbox backlash is there?
According to the manufacturer, 9 arcminutes, or about 0.15 degrees.
How is position read?
The Ø6 × 2.5 mm sensor magnet in the box is fitted to the end of the shaft, and position is read from it by the magnetic encoder on the driver side.
This model has no integrated driver board, so the actuator needs an external FOC driver. Our technical team can help you choose a driver.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
