AKE50-8 KV110 quasi-direct drive actuator, 2.5 Nm rated and 7.5 Nm peak torque. 320 rpm no-load speed, 190 g.
The AKE50-8 KV110 is a quasi-direct drive actuator that combines a brushless motor with an 8:1 planetary gearbox. Its 61.2 mm diameter housing is only 22.5 mm thick, making it the thinnest model in the AKE family. It delivers 7.5 Nm peak torque from 190 g. The manufacturer recommends it for exoskeletons, wearable devices, robot joints and collaborative robot arms.
Typical uses include lower and upper limb exoskeletons, wearable assist devices, wrist and elbow joints of collaborative robot arms, and lightweight robots that must interact safely with people.
The AKE50-8 delivers 2.5 Nm continuous and 7.5 Nm peak torque. For example, a 1 kg load at the end of a 20 cm arm needs about 2 Nm of static torque (1 × 9.81 × 0.20). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
It runs on 24 V, with a rated speed of 240 rpm, a no-load speed of 320 rpm and a maximum continuous power of 65 W. In the manufacturer's temperature rise test it ran at 233 rpm at 2.5 Nm and 220 rpm at 3 Nm. The output bearing has a dynamic load rating of 1,100 N and a static load rating of 840 N.
Is the driver included?
No. The AKE50-8 consists of the motor and planetary gearbox and has no driver board. The box includes a φ6 x 2.5 mm sensor magnet for an external encoder. Our team can help you choose a driver and encoder for your project.
AKE40-6 or AKE50-8?
If 1.8 Nm of continuous torque is enough and every gram counts, the AKE40-6 is the better fit. If you need a bit more torque and a thinner housing, the AKE50-8 stands out. Both have 9 arcminutes of backlash.
Can it be turned by hand?
Yes. Backdrive torque is 0.09 Nm, so the joint moves easily when unpowered.
How loud is it?
According to the manufacturer's measurement, 65 dB at 65 cm from the motor.
Box size 140 x 137 x 77 mm.

The Specifications section on this page lists rated torque, peak torque, KV, no-load speed, weight and outer dimensions. If you need the detailed datasheet, CAD file or driver documentation, ask our technical team.
We sell to universities, industry and R&D projects. For volume pricing and a formal quote, fill in the Request a quote form on this page and our team will reply with price and delivery details.
In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
