AKE90-8KV35 quasi-direct drive actuator, 55 Nm rated and 170 Nm peak torque. 210 rpm no-load speed, 1,400 g.
The AKE90-8 is the largest-body model in the series. Its quasi-direct drive architecture gives high torque density.
Typical applications include exoskeleton joints, rehabilitation devices, collaborative robot arms and mechanisms that work in contact with people.
The AKE90-8 is a quasi-direct drive actuator delivering 55 Nm continuous and 170 Nm peak torque. For example, a 10 kg load at the end of a 40 cm arm needs about 39.2 Nm of static torque (10 × 9.81 × 0.40). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
In quasi-direct drive the reduction is kept low (8:1). The joint stays compliant to external forces, force feedback can be read directly from motor current, and no-load speed rises to 210 rpm. With a torque-to-weight ratio of 121.4 Nm/kg it is designed for exoskeleton knees and hips and for legged robots that carry heavy loads.
Is the driver included?
No. The AKE series has no integrated driver board, and the actuator runs with an external FOC driver. CubeMars recommends the AK80-4830 driver for this model. Our technical team can help you choose a driver.
How much gearbox backlash is there?
According to the manufacturer, 9 arcminutes, or about 0.15 degrees.
How is position read?
The Ø6 × 2.5 mm sensor magnet in the box is fitted to the end of the shaft, and the magnetic encoder on the external driver reads it.
What insulation class does it have?
Class H, the windings are insulated for up to 180 °C.
This model has no integrated driver board, so the actuator needs an external FOC driver. CubeMars recommends the AK80-4830 driver for this model. Our technical team can help you choose a driver.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
