SW12 underwater thruster, at least 12 kgf of static thrust. 1,180 g.
The SW12 is an underwater thruster developed for unmanned underwater vehicles and handheld propulsion units. Thanks to its cast aluminum housing it runs directly underwater with no extra enclosure.
Typical applications include unmanned underwater vehicles, handheld underwater thrusters and marine propulsion systems in tight spaces.
The SW12 is an underwater thruster that delivers at least 12 kgf of static (bollard) thrust. This value is measured with the thruster stationary, and thrust drops as the vehicle speeds up. When choosing a thruster, take into account the water resistance at the vehicle's target speed. Using two SW12 units together gives at least 24 kgf of static thrust in total.
It runs at 48 V with a rated power of 520 W. It weighs 1,180 g in air and 640 g in water. It suits mid-size unmanned marine vehicles, electric surfboards and handheld diving thrusters. It can be used at depths between 0 and 30 meters.
Is the driver included?
No. The thruster runs with an external ESC. CubeMars recommends the TW-40A-12S ESC for this model.
What voltage does it run on?
The rated voltage is 48 V. 12-cell lithium battery packs fall in this voltage range.
Can the propeller direction be changed?
Yes. Both clockwise and counterclockwise propeller configurations are supported, which makes it easier to balance torque on vehicles with two thrusters.
Does it need maintenance after use?
Especially after use in seawater, rinse the thruster with fresh water. The operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
