AK80-8 KV60 robotic actuator, 10 Nm rated and 25 Nm peak torque. 360 rpm no-load speed, 570 g.
The AK80-8 is an integrated robotic actuator with an 8:1 planetary gearbox and dual encoders. The output shaft encoder keeps the position within one turn.
Typical applications include exoskeleton joints, robot arms, AGV drive systems and collaborative robots.
The AK80-8 delivers 10 Nm continuous and 25 Nm peak torque. For example, a 3 kg load at the end of a 30 cm arm needs about 8.8 Nm of static torque (3 × 9.81 × 0.30). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
The second encoder on the output shaft remembers the position within one turn, so the joint does not need to be homed at power-up. This shortens commissioning in exoskeletons and AGV drives. Its 360 rpm no-load speed is enough for medium-speed joints, and if you need faster swings the AK80-9 V3.0 may be a better fit.
What is the dual encoder for?
There is a 14-bit magnetic encoder on the motor side and a 15-bit one at the output shaft. The output encoder reads the real joint angle independently of gearbox backlash and remembers the position within one turn.
How much gearbox backlash is there?
According to the manufacturer, 0.38 degrees.
Can it be turned by hand?
Yes. Backdrive torque is about 0.75 Nm, so the joint can be moved by hand when unpowered.
Is the driver included?
Yes. The driver board, dual encoder and planetary gearbox are inside the housing. The box includes power, CAN and serial communication cables.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
