W30 underwater thruster kit, 6.7 to 7.7 kgf forward thrust and 200 m operating depth. ESC and propellers included, 480 W, 420 g.
The W30 is a lightweight underwater thruster kit designed to run fully immersed in seawater. The kit combines the W30 KV320 motor, the W30 ESC-6S-45A driver, a shroud and two propellers, one clockwise and one counterclockwise. It produces 6.7 to 7.7 kgf of forward thrust at 480 W rated power and is rated to 200 meters. Unlike the DW series, the driver is included and the thruster weighs only 420 g in air.
Typical applications include marine robots, small and medium AUVs and ROVs, unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and electric surfboards. Its low weight makes it a strong fit for vehicles with a tight weight budget.
A single W30 delivers 6.7 to 7.7 kgf of forward thrust. For example, a small vehicle with two W30 units facing straight forward has at least 13.4 kgf of forward static thrust. Reverse thrust is lower (5.0 to 5.8 kgf), so take this difference into account on vehicles where backing up matters.
Rated power is 480 W and rated current 22 A. The motor can draw 30 A and 720 W for up to 180 seconds. The ESC runs on 4S to 6S LiPo or Li-ion batteries, and the manufacturer recommends 6S. The thruster weighs 420 g in air and 200 g in water. If you need more thrust or 350 m depth, consider the DW10.
Is the ESC included?
Yes. The kit includes the W30 ESC-6S-45A driver. It delivers 45 A continuous and 50 A for 10 seconds, is controlled with a 1000 to 2000 µs throttle signal and weighs 32.5 g.
Why are there two different propellers?
The box contains two propellers, one turning clockwise (CW) and one counterclockwise (CCW). When thrusters are used in pairs, counter-rotating propellers balance the vehicle's tendency to spin around its own axis. The propellers are Ø76.1 mm with a 3.6 inch pitch.
Can it be used in seawater?
Yes. The W30 is designed to run immersed in seawater. Coated magnets, resin-potted windings and stainless steel shafts provide resistance to salt water.
What are the motor's specifications?
The motor is designated W30 KV320, weighs 270 g and has a 12N14P layout. Phase resistance is 220 mΩ and inductance 125 µH. At 10 V its no-load speed is 3200 rpm and no-load current 0.5 A.
Box size 180 x 150 x 115 mm.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
