AK45-36 V3.0 KV80 robotic actuator, 8 Nm rated and 24 Nm peak torque. 52 rpm no-load speed, 349 g.
The AK45-36 V3.0 is a high torque robotic actuator that combines the motor, a 36:1 planetary gearbox and the driver in a single 55 mm housing. It delivers 24 Nm peak torque from 349 g and, with a torque density of 68.8 Nm/kg, is the strongest model in the compact AK V3.0 group. Thanks to its dual encoders, single-turn absolute position is kept after power loss, so the joint starts working without homing.
Typical uses include slow but torque-hungry humanoid joints such as elbow and wrist flexion, shoulder joints of small robot arms, grippers and mechanisms that must hold a load in place for long periods.
The AK45-36 V3.0 delivers 8 Nm continuous and 24 Nm peak torque. For example, a 3 kg load at the end of a 25 cm arm needs about 7.4 Nm of static torque (3 × 9.81 × 0.25). That load stays within the rated torque, but since it is close to the limit, it is worth monitoring temperature during long duty cycles.
It runs on 24 V, with a no-load speed of 52 rpm and a rated speed of 40 rpm. Speed is the price of high reduction. If the joint has to turn quickly, the AK45-10 V3.0 from the same family may be a better fit.
Is the driver included?
Yes. The driver board, both encoders and the planetary gearbox are inside the housing. The box includes a power and CAN cable and a serial communication cable.
How is it different from the previous AK45-36?
Torque and speed figures are the same. V3.0 has dual encoders and remembers its single-turn absolute position after power loss. The housing is 2.5 mm longer and 9 g heavier.
Can it be turned by hand?
Yes, but with some effort because of the high reduction. Backdrive torque is about 0.8 Nm, which also makes it harder for light loads to turn the joint on their own when unpowered.
How long can I use the peak torque?
Peak torque is meant for short bursts. In the manufacturer's temperature rise test, bus current was 1.82 A at 8 Nm and 2.21 A at 10 Nm. Use the rated torque for continuous operation.
Box size 89 x 91 x 73 mm.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
