AK45-36 KV80 robotic actuator, 8 Nm rated and 24 Nm peak torque. 36:1 reduction, 52 rpm no-load speed.
The AK45-36 is a compact, high-reduction robotic actuator. Its 36:1 planetary gearbox gets high torque out of a small body.
Typical applications include humanoid robot wrist and ankle joints, walking robot platforms and compact mechanisms that need high torque.
The AK45-36 delivers 8 Nm continuous and 24 Nm peak torque from a 55 mm diameter body. That is the same torque class as the AK70-10, which weighs almost twice as much. For example, a 3 kg load at the end of a 25 cm arm needs about 7.4 Nm of static torque (3 × 9.81 × 0.25).
The trade-off is speed. Because of the 36:1 reduction, no-load speed is 52 rpm, or about 312 degrees per second. A 90 degree turn takes at least 0.3 seconds without load, and longer under load. It suits slow but strong joints such as the wrist, ankle and gripper, while leg joints that need fast swings are better served by a lower-ratio model.
Why is it so slow?
A 36:1 ratio divides the motor speed by 36 and multiplies its torque by the same amount. Low output speed is the price of high torque from a small body.
Can it be turned by hand?
Because of the high reduction, turning the output shaft by hand is harder than on low-ratio models. Keep this in mind for joints that must be moved from outside.
Which control modes does it support?
You can choose between servo control and force-based control. Parameters are identified automatically in the PC software.
Is the driver included?
Yes. The driver board is inside the housing, and the box includes a power and CAN cable and a serial communication cable.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
