AKH70-48 V1.0 KV41 hollow-shaft actuator, 74 Nm rated and 222 Nm peak torque. 35 rpm no-load speed, 1,396 g.
The AKH70-48 is the high-reduction version of the hollow-shaft planetary actuator module. It gets more torque out of the same body, and the cables still run through the shaft.
Typical applications include humanoid robots, collaborative robots, multi-axis robot arms, automation equipment, AGV and AMR platforms and compact robot designs that need internal wiring.
The AKH70-48 delivers 74 Nm continuous and 222 Nm peak torque. For example, a 12 kg load at the end of a 50 cm arm needs about 58.9 Nm of static torque (12 × 9.81 × 0.50). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
The trade-off is speed. Because of the 48:1 reduction, no-load speed is 35 rpm, or about 210 degrees per second. A 90 degree turn takes at least 0.43 seconds without load. It suits joints that carry a lot of weight but do not swing fast, such as the shoulder, hip and waist. Cables running through the 7 mm bore also make cable management easier in multi-axis arms.
Can it be turned by hand?
Not easily. Backdrive torque is about 2.22 Nm, and because of the high reduction the joint largely holds its position when unpowered.
How much gearbox backlash is there?
According to the manufacturer, 12 arcminutes, or about 0.2 degrees.
Which encoders does it use?
Two 21-bit magnetic encoders, one on the motor side and one at the output shaft. The output position is kept when power is cut.
How are several actuators connected?
Thanks to the dual connection interface, actuators can be daisy-chained. Power and CAN communication share the XT30PW connector, and parameters are set over UART.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
