AK70-10 KV100 robotic actuator, 8.3 Nm rated and 24.8 Nm peak torque. 10:1 reduction, 480 rpm no-load speed.
The AK70-10 is a robotic actuator that combines a brushless DC motor, a 10:1 planetary gearbox, the driver and the encoder in a single unit. Its cross roller bearing makes it resistant to shock loads.
Typical applications include exoskeleton systems, quadruped robots, robot arms and joints working under dynamic loads.
The AK70-10 delivers 8.3 Nm continuous and 24.8 Nm peak torque. For example, a 2.5 kg load at the end of a 30 cm arm needs about 7.4 Nm of static torque (2.5 × 9.81 × 0.30). That load stays within the actuator's rated torque.
Because its cross roller bearing carries the radial and axial loads at the joint together, it is a common choice for quadruped robots and exoskeletons. Its 0.2 degree gearbox backlash also suits joints that need precise positioning.
What is MIT mode?
A hybrid control mode in which position, speed and torque targets are sent in a single command together with stiffness and damping gains. The joint behaves like a spring and damper, which legged robots use to soften ground contact.
Do I have to tune the PID by hand?
No. Automatic identification in the PC software sets the parameters with one click.
Is the driver included?
Yes. The driver board, encoder and planetary gearbox are inside the actuator housing. The box includes power, CAN and serial communication cables.
How much gearbox backlash is there?
According to the manufacturer, 0.2 degrees.

In the AK and AKH series actuators the driver board is built into the motor and communicates over CAN. The AKE series and the frameless RI and RO series motors need an external FOC driver. The R-Link and S-Link interfaces are for setup and debugging, and we can support you during installation.
